Dentist time

Its that time of the week again. Wednesdays are the days I hang out with my Dentist and he drills into my teeth. So in preparation for this week, to not pansy out and only get one cavity filled but three! I have been looking up inspirational quotes like these:

To him that waits all things reveal themselves, provided that he has the courage not to deny, in the darkness, what he has seen in the light. ~Coventry Patmore

Courage is being scared to death... and saddling up anyway. ~John Wayne

Well said friends.

Now off to the dentist!

4.19.11

Yesterday was Eric's birthday! We took a lovely road trip to Milwaukee where it was switching between hail and torrential rain the whole day. We went to a lovely museum! The art was really cool and soo interesting. Then we went to what has been voted Milwaukee's favorite cafe for like the past three years. It was amazing, we at a burrito and drank chai while playing old maid and crazy 8s (presents I gave to Eric for his birthday). We then moved on to Milwaukee Ale House. We played free pool and drank awesome beers brewed there with love and care! We had a most amazing black bean burger topped with fresh mozzarella, basil and tomatoes, and a cucumber dressing. We also had a cup of their chili. YUMZ. We went from there to Potawatomi casino. It was the first time either of us had been to a casino. I played the slot machines and Eric tried his hand at black jack. We lost some money and then left to see what Milwaukee's Murphy's Irish pub looks like. We played some more pool and drank some Milwaukee beer. We also ate some popcorn before heading out to our final destination. Miss Katie's for karaoke! After both of us singing we headed home in clear weather. It was such a wonderful day :D

Wednesdays are great

Oh man today was productive. I was finally awake and home during normal business hours, called everyone I was supposed to and straightened everything out. I stayed on extra long at work and made extra money, went to the dentist, cleaned the room, vacuumed, emptied the dishwasher, updated my budget, ran errands, and picked up groceries. Whoo!!

The important things to say about all this are 1) phone calls are soo frustrating. I never understand what some people are saying, or even what they're talking about, and I was kind of out of it today so I immediately forgot what they were asking me. It was an arduous process to say the least. Also, 2) DENTIST! I'll be getting a root canal in the future, but apparently its so bad that I have to go to a specialist to get it done. But I have an appointment set up for next week to get some of my cavities filled, and that is a start. I will continue until everything is fixed and my teeth are impeccable!!

Today I also ate some melon salsa. I have been really getting into awesome out-of-the-norm foods recently. I like unconventional salsas. Like Blueberry salsa. So good!

Right now it is time for homework and blues music followed by The Dark Knight :-)

Setting the bar at 99

So last Wednesday I posted about my "weekend" but I never followed up. I'd like to let you know that Eric got the job!! How great! I am super super proud of him and excited for the future.

I also got some sad news on Thursday. My grandma on my dad's side died last Wednesday. She just turned 99 in February. She had been in a lot of pain recently and I know she's in a better place now. Its been a constant reminder this past week of the importance of living life to the fullest and appreciating things. I always get tables of older people at work (where I'm a waitress) and I ask people how they are, and if they're celebrating anything, and I always get responses like "well I woke up this morning". It has always been a bittersweet sort of response. They realize their mortality and are in someway appreciative of their presence here. I've heard my maternal grandpa talk about dying for years and his jokes about "still being here" and "waking up this morning" were always laughed off more casually. This week it was harder to be so distant from it. Today was my grandma's funeral. About a week ago there was talk of moving her into a nursing home, and my grandpa to live with my uncle in Indiana. I asked my dad if my grandpa would be really sad to be seperated from his wife, and he said probably, but no one really knew what else to do. That was the hardest part of today, to look at his eyes and see how sad he was.

I also got this crazy weird sort of sick on Friday due to completely unrelated events, and that made my actual weekend challenging. I'm mostly over it, and looking forward to getting some stuff done this week and making some money. Eric and I have a date scheduled for Sunday lunch that I am super excited about. We're going to this fancy Italian place that I've been hearing about since I moved up here. I know a guy who serves there on Sunday lunch so it should be a really fun time :-)
