snowsh
So now I live with Eric. I am in a poetry and fiction class. Tonight Eric and I workshopp'ed some poetry. I wrote a sonnet about chocolate cake. The other day it Blizzard'ed! It was mad nuts. We went out adventuring in the blizzard as it overtook our tiny world. The snow swirled a whirled and looked magnificent. The whole outside was in one of those amazing states that is so intense to perception. I was in aww of the enormity of the world and my miniscule being amongst all of it. The complete hold that mother nature has over our lives. I got snowed in for the first time I can ever remember. Not in the house particularly but in the parking lot. There was three foot of snow behind my car, and as people dug their cars out of the snow surrounding them they placed it in the center of the parking lot to be plowed. The parking lot centered turned into a mountain range of tiny sledding hills for children. This didn't get plowed for a day and a half. I obviously couldn't drive through all that snow and was therefore stuck! It was strange to feel so detached from a world I normally have at my fingertips and am so well connected with. The power of nature became ever so apparent. In the night during the blizzard Eric and I escaped the house into the elements, bundled up head to toe to see what we could find. We trudged through snow headed nowhere in particular. We reached a lamp post standing in a foreign environment. As Eric realized an opportunity for epic photography was upon us I sat to mark the spot as he ran home to grab a camera. I sat and thought to become part of the landscape, letting myself blend in amongst the trees, lightposts, bushes, houses and cars, impeding the path of the ever gusting wind, causing a maelstrom of snow and cold for miles around. As I sat with my butt and thighs feeling pins and needles I finally understood all the extreme cold stories I've read much more clearly. It was a great sensation to feel so insignificant and part of nature. Also several times I felt compelled (although it never worked) to try and swim in the snow. Snow is FROZEN water. It does not work that way.

I tried that many times in Sweden (usually with tequila involved). It worked about as well as your attempt. Sadly there is minimal snow where I live.
